Vincent Byrne – Treasurer
Vincent Byrne has more than 35 years of
experience in municipal government and the water and sewer industry
in all areas of financial management and administration. Currently,
he is working as an independent management consultant and has
participated on 23 assignments for 17 clients over the past 11
years. Prior to his current assignments, he was Chief Financial
Officer for Fairfax County Water Authority. Prior to joining Fairfax
County Water Authority, Mr. Byrne worked for the management
consulting firm of Booz Allen & Hamilton.
Bruce Johnson
Bruce has been an
active, enthusiastic and very involved member for several years and
we look forward to brining his energy and commitment to the board.
He and his wife have spent the last few years making a focused
effort to survey and explore their beautiful wooded property in
Loudon Co. for native plants and songbirds.
“I would be
honored to be considered a candidate for the
Board of Directors of the ASNV. By way of background, I grew up in
California, graduated from the University of California and, after 4
years
of active duty with the U.S. Army, spent 31 years with the Central
Intelligence Agency as a Middle East field officer living overseas
with my
wife Jill and son Erik for 27 of those years.
Following my
retirement in 2003, I joined Lockheed Martin where I am presently
employed. I have been a member of the Audubon Society for the past 5
years and as with many of you, I also belong to companion
organizations concerned with the environment and habitat protection.
I currently serve on the Advocacy Committee of our ASNV, am working
my way through the Master Naturalist Program, am a regular
participant in our annual bird counts, and try to assist in other
ways time permitting. If elected to the Board, I would look forward
to contributing whatever I can to the continued growth and success
of our organization.”
Odette D. Scovel
We first met Odette in 2006 when she
worked closely with us to distribute the Nature of Change (the
flagship publication for Audubon at Home in Northern Virginia) to
every public school in Loudoun County. She also arranged Audubon
presentations and meetings with Loudoun Co. science teachers and
helped bring teachers to our education symposium. We’re very please
to suggest her as new board member.
“I am currently the science
instructional supervisor (K-12) for Loudoun County Public Schools,
one of the fastest growing jurisdictions in the nation, with over
50,000 students.
My formal education includes a B.S. in
Biology from Old Dominion University and a M.Ed. in Education from
George Mason University. I began my teaching career in Norfolk City
Public Schools and taught in the Department of Defense Dependent
Schools (Italy) before coming to Loudoun as a classroom teacher. In
2001 I became supervisor of Loudoun science programs.”
